POLICY COMMITTEES
The Legislative Action Committee drives policy positions for the chamber, establishes its annual policy platform, and recommends formal positions to the Board on issues not assigned to other committees. This is also the monthly meeting for members to connect directly with our elected representatives’ staff. The committee meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday from 9:00am to 10:00am. |
The Chamber’s Land Use and Economic Development Committee advocates for permitting, zoning, and economic development policies that support the economic growth of the City. The committee will examine issues related to housing, zoning, business attraction and retention, transportation, and planning. The committee also serves as the Chamber’s Commercial Brokers/ Developers Roundtable to address the challenges of property development and business attraction, including filling vacancies. Alhambra Businesses are invited to bring issues that need support or resolution to this committee. The committee meets monthly on the first Thursday from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. |
The Sustainability Committee advocates for policies that promote sustainability practices within the City of Alhambra. Members of the committee are committed to advancing sustainability through educational programs and community partnerships, and the committee focuses on creating a more resilient future. The committee meets quarterly on the first Tuesday from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. |
SECTOR COMMITTEES
The Corporate Council advocates for policies that support the national retailers and industries that have locations and investments in Alhambra. The semi-annual council meetings will offer a chance to raise local issues with local leaders and create a 6-month work plan for the chamber to begin to address those matters. The Council meets twice a year for a luncheon on April 13, 2022 and September 14, 2022 from 11:30am-1:00pm.
The Restaurant Roundtable advocates for policies that directly affect Alhambra’s restaurants and food service industry. The roundtable offers a chance for restaurants to learn about new resources they can access, as well as find out how to take advantage of joint marketing opportunities. Attendees can raise issues that the Chamber will address in the coming months to support thriving food services businesses. The committee meets quarterly on the first Tuesday of the month at 2:30pm to 3:30pm. |
The Nonprofit Committee convenes local nonprofit organizations, their board members, and those who support them to promote collaboration across the sector. The committee also advocates for policies and programs that mitigates challenges faced by the sector and strengthens the ability for each to achieve their goals. Activities include developing joint campaigns, resource development, and capacity building in support of the Alhambra community. The committee will meet bimonthly on the first Thursday at 10:00am to 11:30am.
The Interfaith Council convenes local faith-based organizations and their affiliates to encourage dialogue and promote collaboration across faith-based communities to address community issues of concern. Members of the committee work to develop a greater sense of community pride, cooperation, and engagement. The committee meets quarterly on the second Tuesday of the month at 9:00am to 11:00am. |
