Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $50,000 to help small, family-owned businesses in our local area. As you know, the January 21 tragedy has had repercussions throughout the communities of Alhambra and Monterey Park. You can help sustain our local businesses during this difficult time by donating to the Small Business Recovery Fund. This fund will help local businesses remain open and help them make improvements in their safety protocols and employee training. Funds will be dispersed in coordination with local officials, based on an assessment of need.
This fund has been established by The Alhambra Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, that has been administered by the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce since 1980.
We currently have two institutional donors seeding this effort. With your donation, you will help our family-owned businesses remain open, help them keep local residents employed, and maintain the vibrancy of these communities during this challenging time of recovery.
To donate, please reach John Bwarie, the Alhambra Chamber CEO at ceo@alhambrachamber.org. You may also reach the Chamber by calling (626) 282-8481.About the Foundation
Founded in 1981, the Alhambra Foundation has been supporting the community through various programs including a scholarship program and other support initiatives. In 2022, the Foundation rebranded and renewed its focus on building the capacity of organizations seeking to support and improve the Alhambra Community. While formal, organizational grant program is being developed and is expected to launch in 2023, the Foundation will work to support the collective capacity building and programs to support the Alhambra community.
Our Mission
The Alhambra Foundation supports individuals and organizations to maximize their impact and strengthen the Alhambra community.
PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS
Alhambra Cares
Working with the dozens of nonprofit organizations located or working in Alhambra, the Alhambra Foundation is working to raise funds and awareness for these important civic organizations. The initial effort will be a collective marketing.
Restaurant Grants
In early October with the support of Wells Fargo, the Alhambra Foundation worked with the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce to provide grants to 40 small, only-in-Alhambra restaurants.. As the nation continues to recover from the pandemic, small businesses everywhere are also working towards recovery, and we wanted to provide support to the diverse restaurants in Alhambra as they work towards economic recovery.
Scholarship Program
The Foundation is reworking this program and will be relaunching it in 2023.
