Christopher T. Balmaseda

Christopher Teng Balmaseda is an international business leader working to bring cross-border ventures to the San Gabriel Valley. For the past three years, he has worked with US experts to facilitate the expansion of businesses into the US that provide job and economic growth to local communities. He serves as a venture partner focused on technologies related to space, life science, and deep tech. He also has worked with government officials in the US and Taiwan to facilitate economic opportunities in both countries.

Earlier in his career, Chris did research in DNA sequencing technology and cancer treatments. After leaving research, Chris went on to launch and manage the American branch of a Taiwanese tech company before leaving to form his own startup.

Chris is an ardent community advocate, serving as president of the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of the Taiwan Center of Greater Los Angeles, The Alhambra Foundation, The Taiwan United Fund, and Taiwanese American Citizens League. He was also appointed an Associate Advisor to the Overseas Community Affairs Council of the Republic of China (Taiwan). In July 2022, Chris welcomed his first son with his wife Anthonia. Trilingual, Chris also speaks Mandarin and Tagalog. He received his B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology from UC Berkeley and M.S. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
