The San Gabriel Valley Water Forum, an educational water symposium that engages stakeholders on water policy, resource planning, and solutions to the valley’s unique water opportunities and challenges, will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the San Gabriel Hilton Hotel, 225 W. Valley Blvd., San Gabriel. The forum will showcase the work of local water agencies in meeting the region’s water demands, with expert speakers detailing local water supply and meteorological conditions, retail trends, and innovations that will enhance water reliability. A keynote panel will discuss “Working Together to Bring Our Water Future into Focus.”
The forum was created in 2012. This sixth meeting includes two significant changes. First, the forum will be held at a new location to engage stakeholders from the west portion of the San Gabriel Valley. Second, the forum will be held in the spring closer to the end of the rain and snow season, Earth Day, and May/Water Awareness Month. This timing will allow participants to consider water supply, demand, and conservation prior to the hot, dry summer and fall weather.
The goal of the 2020 San Gabriel Valley Water Forum is to review historic accomplishments throughout the valley and discuss how those experiences, coupled with new programs, technology, partnerships, and innovation, will serve as the foundation for the water future.
The forum is presented by the leading water agencies in the San Gabriel Valley: San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority, Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster, Three Valleys Municipal Water District, and Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District. NBC4 returns as the media partner and sponsor.
The forum is designed to include diverse stakeholders. Attendees include federal, state, city, and county elected officials and staff, public works and water utility officials, school board members and school district staff, high school and college faculty and students, water agency representatives, businesses, media, and environmental and community leaders. Attendance has ranged between 225 and 325 guests. Regular updates about the forum’s topics and guest speakers will be posted on the forum’s website: www.sgvwaterforum.com. Tickets may be reserved in early 2020, and sponsorships are available.
