Chinese New Year Art Exhibition
1/11/21 7:00AM - 1/29/21 1:59PM
The Alhambra Chamber of Commerce and MRBI (Multicultural Radio Broadcast Inc.) present a 19-day art exhibition at Alhambra City Hall, 111 S. First St., during the Chinese New Year. Artworks are by Chinese painters and calligraphers (offered by America Arts Research Institute (AARI)).
Last year, the Feb. 8 traditional Lunar New Year Festival"on Valley Boulevard in Alhambra was canceled due to COVID-19. This year, although the epidemic continues, the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce stated it still wanted to continue the 30-year tradition and offer some traditional activity during the Lunar New Year to let people feel the festive atmosphere.
The Alhambra 2021 Chinese New year art exhibition mainly exhibits the latest heavy color works of Wang Yue from the America Arts Research Institute (AAARI), including 13 pigeons, two horses, one tiger, and four chickens. Wang Yue came from Beijing, China. He studied Chinese painting under Aisin Gioro, Fuzuo in his early years, then studied in Tianjin Arts and Crafts, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts successively. After moving to Los Angeles in 1995, he has been engaged in professional creation. His paintings have the strong characteristics of the golden pen heavy color painting and the boneless heavy color painting. The paintings are naturally rich and elegant, and the visual effect is gorgeous.
The art exhibition also displays Chinese New Year calligraphy by calligrapher Sun Huili. All artworks are highlighting the New Year theme of "Love and Peace." There are small gifts (calligraphy "Blessing") for visitors at the spot.
The Alhambra Art Exhibition time is presented from Jan. 11 through Jan. 29, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to noon at Alhambra City Hall, 111 S. First St., Alhambra91801. Phone 626-570-5000 for information.
