Eagles Nest Cycles, a family American dream
By Denis Kerechuk
The Chamber welcomes new member Eagles Nest Cycles (ENC), specializing in Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
ENC was founded in 2008 by Alhambra resident Lonnie Gallegos at 1340 W. Main St. In 2012, Jerry Ramirez, an Alhambra High School graduate and former football and baseball player, took over full business ownership, and he and mechanic Richard Duran have successfully grown the business, moving a few doors west to their present location at 1346 W. Main St.
ENC was featured in a documentary film in 2010, sponsored by Harley- Davidson, titled Harlistas – An American Journey, all about Latinos and the positive impact Harley-Davidsons have had on their lives. ENC was in the process of building a custom Harley-Davidson for a customer who was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They enlisted various Hispanic talent to complete the project. You can view this build on YouTube.com. Search Harlistas - An American Journey, clip 3.
The custom paint job reflects Dodger Stadium and features the famous Hispanic pitcher Fernando Valenzuela. Valenzuela was the winning pitcher of the 1981 World Championship between the Dodgers and the New York Yankees. When Fernando pitched a no hitter, announcer Vin Scully would say, "If you have a sombrero, throw it to the sky!"
It looks like the business will continue to thrive in Alhambra for years to come. So, if you have a Harley-Davidson that needs some work, modifications, or just plain service, remember Eagles Nest Cycles for your go-to service establishment.
