Dust off the golf clubs and head over to the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce’s annual Golf Tournament Oct. 18

Play begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Thursday, Oct. 18 is the date for the annual Alhambra Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament “Play Fore the Kids.” Every year, proceeds from the tournament go to the Chamber Scholarship program, which awards more than $10,000 in college scholarships to graduating high school seniors of the Alhambra School District. The tournament will take place at the Alhambra Golf Course, 630 S. Almansor St.

Play begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start. That means each group of players tees off simultaneously from different holes so that everyone finishes at approximately the same time. At 4 p.m., a banquet will take place to award the winners and reward others with raffle prizes.

The tournament is co-sponsored by the Alhambra Hospital Medical Center and Evike.com. The Auto sponsor is Volkswagen of Alhambra. Al’s Towing will sponsor a Golf Tips session from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Learn tips from one of the pros on how best to play the course. The tips could give golfers a real advantage. Goudy Honda will sponsor the hole-in-one contest.

The entrance fee for individuals, which includes the evening banquet, is only $145. A corporate team can be sponsored for just $800, and a Tee Sponsor can donate $150 for someone else to enter the tournament.
