The event landed on a Saturday this year and drew its largest crowd ever with about 300 crawlers who painted Downtown Alhambra green.
The festivities kicked off at 5 p.m. at Ohana Brewing Company, where crawlers lined up early to receive a limited amount of drink tickets for a free 4-ounce sampler at Ohana. The first 50 crawlers also received commemorative St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl
T-shirts, printed locally by Ovation Print Services and compliments of the Downtown Alhambra Business Association (DABA).
Per tradition and the slogan on the T-shirts, crawlers followed an Irish bagpiper, who led the crowd to the participating bars, restaurants, and businesses. As the procession went down Main Street sidewalks, the bagpiper and pub-crawlers drew cheers from cars and passers by. “All you saw was a sea of green as the crawl proceeded on the streets, and that was an amazing site!” said DABA President Liza Rodriguez.
Prizes were raffled throughout the night, and the charismatic Dameion “Lucky” Smith emceed the evening, keeping the crawlers entertained. The celebration culminated at Azul Ultra Lounge, where crawlers enjoyed drinks, dancing, and an energetic set from local band “The Spliffs.”
“We were beyond happy with the success and turnout for this year’s pub crawl and hope to make it even better for next year,” said DABA special events planner Monina Castillo.
