TOY-ZILLA to host ‘The Toys That Made Us’ panel, screening

The Toys That Made Us series creator Brian Volk-Weiss will screen the original pilot that sold the show to Netflix on Saturday, Feb. 10, at TOY-Zilla, 201 E. Bay State St., Alhambra.

Netflix’s eight-part documentary series The Toys That Made Us covers the untold history of the world’s most enduring toy lines, with the first four episodes focusing on Masters of the Universe, G.I. Joe, Barbie, and Star Wars. The next four episodes covering Transformers, Hello Kitty, Lego, and Star Trek will air later this year, but fans don't have to wait that long to get the inside scoop on the show. Series creator Brian Volk-Weiss will present a free panel at Alhambra's newest toy store, TOY-ZILLA, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. He will screen the original pilot that sold the show and other never-before-seen-footage. As a huge toy fanatic himself, Mr. Volk-Weiss will be happy to talk toys and discuss the making of the show and the future of the series.

Before and after the panel, attendees will be able to view and purchase toys from TOY-ZILLA, many from the same toy lines featured on the show. The event is expected to sell out, so attendees are encouraged to get free tickets from www.TOY-ZILLA.com.

The store is located at 201 E. Bay State St. Alhambra 91801 and is open every day. Check website for hours.
