Despite a promising start in 2016, and the stellar line-up of indie rock and dance-inspired acts slated for 2017, organizers for Mainfest Alhambra (http://www.mainfestalhambra.com/) have officially cancelled their Sept. 9 event.
It would have been the sophomore year for the music festival, which had a successful debut last year with headlining act Capital Cities and other performers, such as Miami Horror, Nite-Funk, Dead Sara, Thee Commons, and SWIMM.
Mainfest had hoped to repeat its success in 2017 with another exciting roster of bands, artists, and DJs, including Purity Ring, Ghostland Observatory, Broods, Classixx, Poolside, and many more. In spite of the enthusiasm, the effects of an oversaturated music festival market combined with an unpredictable economy resulted in rising production costs that outpaced ticket sales. These factors prompted the difficult decision to cancel the festival this year.
The Mainfest Alhambra team regrets the necessity for the cancellation, but wanted to ensure that they could deliver the high-quality festival experience that was originally envisioned and executed in 2016, as well as what they felt concertgoers deserve.
Mainfest also extends apologies and thanks to all the music fans who were planning to attend the festival. Refunds or credits for tickets can be processed through Ticketfly or through the outlet where buyers purchased their tickets.
