Classical European Music Academy Los Angeles performs at Carnegie Hall

“One of the most famous concert halls of the world has witnessed some talent, and the young “CEMALINOS” surely played with maximum effort at such a young age to represent the San Gabriel Valley,” said Magdolna Berezvai, director of CEMALA.

Classical European Music Academy Los Angeles’ (CEMALA) Chamber Orchestra performed at Carnegie Hall in New York for the first time on June 18  under the direction of Magdolna Berezvai, with works by Mozart, Dvorak, and Barber.

“One of the most famous concert halls of the world has witnessed some talent, and the young “CEMALINOS” surely played with maximum effort at such a young age to represent the San Gabriel Valley,” said Ms. Berezvai. “This was a place where Tchaikovsky stood on May 5, 1891, when he opened this "temple of music," followed by hundreds of conductors including Toscanin, Mehta, Mahler, Bernstein, Levine, Abbado, Mitorpoulos, Karajan, Copland, Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff, Stokowsky, Rattle, Shaw, Solti, Muti, and Sell.”

CEMALA is a comprehensive violin school committed to nurturing young extraordinary musical talent. Ms. Berezvai brought the skills she learned in her musical studies in Hungary to the school. “Music is truly an international language,” she said.

“I’ve been performing with CEMALA for almost five years now,” said student Julia Goodrich. “My teacher, Ms. Magdolna, has taught me everything I know about playing the violin. I have performed at many places with CEMALA, including the White House and most recently Carnegie Hall. I felt that playing at such a historical landmark with my group was a big step in my violin experience. It improved my knowledge in teamwork and helped me grow as a violinist. I want to thank Ms. Magdolna for all her hard work and dedication in teaching us and providing us with wonderful opportunities."

“During concerts, we know we have achieved our goal when the spark jumps over to the audience,” said Ms. Berezvai. “Our music not only entertains our guests but challenges the students as well. We practice hard and gather new experiences from numerous performances. That's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun, as we take various opportunities to combine practices with other fun activities like performances at Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World, and  venues such as the White House, the Lakers, and our Italy tour.
