Alhambra Performing Arts Center, under the direction of Artistic Director Bill Yee, will present French-Canadian pianist Andree-Ann Deschenes at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Sage Granada Park United Methodist Church, 1850 W. Hellman Ave. Alhambra. Admission is free.
Ms. Deschenes brings the unique rhythm and passion of Latin classical music to the Alhambra stage with an energetic, distinctively global evening of Latin classical music, featuring Darius Milhaud’s Saudades do Brasil from her recently released album, Milhaud and Ginastera. The album was acclaimed by The Whole Note Magazine as “A gem. ¡Fantástico!” Building a reputation as a performer with an impassioned eye toward the unification of sound and culture from all over the Americas, her work has been heralded as “… Gorgeous, gritty, powerful, and traditional, all in one package” (The Music Farmer).
Performing with Ms. Deschenes in this program will be several guest artists, whose creativity and instrumental versatility will transport the audience far away to the colorful neighborhoods of Rio. Ms. Deschenes looks forward to upcoming concerts throughout California and beyond as part of her Milhaud and Ginastera tour. Released on Aug. 2, the album will be available for purchase after the concert and also on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, CD Universe, and Arkivmusic.
